Twist Online : First of all tell us about the start of your music career.
Steve Nick : It all started when I was 6 years old and actually wrote my first song. Although it wasn’t a good one, it had a structure and basic rhythm. It felt like giving birth to something. Haven’t stopped songwriting since then.

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Steve Nick : The answer is definitely my love for music. I would be doing it whether if it paid my bills or not. I have always find pleasure in songwriting. Most times my subconscious is dictating the rhythm and I am just following the beat.

Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release ?
Steve Nick : My latest released was the album “Coming Soon” in January 2020. This album consists of songs I had written or co written between 2000 and 2005 with my first band called Coming Soon. Of course all tracks have been remastered.

Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
Steve Nick : My fans love this album because the songs I wrote earlier in my career had more authentic lyrics and no limitations and restrictions in melody. Back then there was no need to write radio-friendly songs and I had more room for experimentation.

Twist Online : What attracts you more, Working in studios or performing on stage?
Steve Nick : These are two different things. When I was younger I totally preferred playing live gigs. The energy and vibes you get from playing live is simply amazing. If feels like bungy jumping and you feel so alive. Now that I have become better at mixing and mastering I enjoy working in studios as well, as creativity can give you a feeling of accomplishment and fulfillment.

Twist Online : What’s the best part of being a music producer?
Steve Nick : This is something I have always wanted to do and have always enjoyed. Of course I am still learning and every day is a new lesson. The best part is the opportunity to experiment and try new things and sound. It is a highly creative work and you learn a lot through collaboration. It is a lot challenging though, as you are only as good as your next hit.

Twist Online : Have you set any goals to achieve?
Steve Nick : I would like to write songs and enjoy songwriting for as long as possible. I have been doing this for as long as I can remember and my intention is not to stop. I also have a strong desire to achieve the goal of having written 10 music albums. The love and support I receive from my fans is the energy that keeps my going. Words cannot express how grateful I feel.

Twist Online : Tell us about your upcoming album “Greek 90’s”?
Steve Nick : It is an album that consists of cover songs. I carefully chose songs that I grew up with and never stopped listening to. Till today these songs are considered all time classics. My contribution is to approach these hits with a Latin vibe and add a different sound and color. The album is going to be released by the end of this summer.

  1. You describe yourself in your role as a singer and songwriter as emotionally charged, where in your life do you feel that this sprung from?

First of all I would like to thank you for having this interview. I have always considered myself a romantic fighter and believer as long as I can remember. What I have learnt over the years is to live each day at a time and be grateful. I had the chance to work with what I love most and that is music. I would not have made it if it weren’t for my fans. Their never-ending love and support made it all happen and that’s why I can’t say thank you enough. I do what I do because of them and I will keep doing that as long as they charge me emotionally.

  1. Your new album ‘Steve and Friends’, what made you want to collaborate? Will we be seeing a lot more collaborations in future albums?

During the production of “Steve & Friends” I had the chance to collaborate with some very talented musicians from all over the world. A had two musicians playing the violin from Chile and Malaysia, one Canadian playing harmonica and one German playing the piano. I found the idea of collaborating with musician from all over the world very intriguing that’s why I opened up to collaborations. In my first personal album “Unplugged” released in August 2015 it was just me and my guitars. I have already started recordings for my new project, this time with a full band called Last Minute Rescue.

  1. With a few hints that the songs on your next album will be original, will the album be entirely written by you?

My next album “When Rock meets Country” will be released by the end of the year and it will be entirely written by me, both music and lyrics. I have written more than 100 songs over the years, so you can assume song-writing is something I have always indulged myself with.

  1. What do you find so appealing about philanthropy and charity work?

Philanthropy is something I have always wanted to do. The world can be a better place to live in if we all contributed a little more. Everyone with his one way and ability. All profits made from my two albums are going to donations to fight hunger, prevent malnutrition and improve the lives of boys and girls in Africa. I firmly believe that charities can make a difference.

  1. What can we be looking forward to from you in the near future?

My future plans are to continue making albums, maybe concentrate more on original songs and not so much on covers since i have a growing fan-base now. Thank you so much for your time and all my gratitude to all my supporters!!

Steve Nick is a singer-songwriter. He just released his second personal album called ''Steve&Friends'' with collaboration from all over the world. We have conducted an interview with Steve.

Which musical instruments do you play and have you written any songs in Greek?
First of all I would like to thank you for the interview and my fans for their love and never-ending support. I play the guitar. I got my first guitar at the age of 14 and have been playing ever since. At this moment I have 4 guitars in my possession, two electric (Gibson-Fender) and two acoustic guitars (Takamine and Stagg). The first songs I wrote when I started songwriting were actually in Greek.

How difficult or easy is songwriting for you?
I wrote my first couple of songs at the age of 6 and never stopped since then. I am proudly enough to say that I have written more than 100 songs over the years. So you can assume that songwriting is something I have always enjoyed.

What are the interesting events that happened during the production of "Steve&Friends" with collaboration from all over the world?
During the production of “Steve&Friends” I had the chance to collaborate with some very talented musicians from all over the world. A had two musicians playing the violin from Chile and Malaysia, one Canadian playing harmonica and one German playing the piano. We actually never met but it was all possible through the net.

Why are you making this collaborative album?
“Steve&Friends” released in April 2016 is my second personal album. My first personal album “Unplugged” was released in August 2015 and it was just me and my guitars. This time I decided to try something else that’s why I opened up to collaborations. These days I actually started recordings for my third album (When Rock meets Country) which is going to be released by the end of the year, this time being a full band project.

When did you start your charity mission and what do you plan to do in the near future?

All profits made from my two albums are going to donations to fight hunger, prevent malnutrition and improve the lives of boys and girls in Africa. I firmly believe that charities can make a difference. My future plans are to continue making albums, maybe concentrate more on original songs and not so much on covers since a have a growing fan-base now and to continue to try to make this world a better place to leave in. Thank you so much for your time and many regards to all my fans!! You made this happen!!
